One of the most unforgettable concerts I’ve ever been to was the Spanish baroque orchestra Al Ayre Español - Eduardo López Banzo’s concert at HKAPA about 6-7 years ago. I was a student back then, engrossed in my own little world and totally oblivious of the vast sub-genres of classical music. I marvelled at how their music made me experience excitement, beauty and pain that no other music has ever done. The other time that I’ve felt as intoxicated at a concert was The English Concert’s Handel performance with Carolyn Sampson in 2012. Now that I look back, I realised that it was love at first sight at historically informed performance of baroque music, it was purely love at first sight but I just didn’t know it yet.

Last weekend I had the great honour to perform with Al Ayre Español in an all-Handel programme. It is a dream come true, and a great source of motivation for me to work harder in that direction. Thank you Hong Kong Arts Festival 香港藝術節 and Hong Kong Arts Festival - Young Friends for making this happen.
